Hanging out in Asheville

We're spending a few days in Asheville, NC. After only being here for one afternoon, here's what we've decided about the city so far. Asheville is:

  • a great/ walkable city - it puts ATL to shame (that doesn't include Decatur)
  • filled with lots of 20-something hippie types that seem to sit on the sidewalks all day and occasionally play music
  • a city filled with great architecture (mostly art nouveau, turn-of-the-century era)
  • overflowing with independent shops, restaurants and coffee houses
  • home to a great independent bookstore, Malaprops, that has survived for 25 years
That's it for now. More pics to come later!
